Short Film: Horror Project

For the spooky month of October in Creative Studio II, we were tasked with creating a short horror project, something animated or coded depending on our preferences. Given the nature of the past projects that year (Two-Button Game and the Macbeth Dating Simulator), I decided to try my hand at creating a model, rigging it, and planning an animation around my freaky monster character.

I made the character model in Blender, and I downloaded the furniture from EA Games Sims 4 models. I tried sculpting the character manually to create a more uncanny feel, which I hadn’t done before. This proved quite difficult, as it was also my first time rigging anything in Blender, but no matter how hard it was, I was determined to have something that moved. Luckily, the weird, static movements only added to how uncanny the creature moved; this project was both good practice and a reminder to always save your work (especially on a laptop) and check the model before you rig, always, lest a character that actually is human get movements like his.

Adding credit here to send love to my friend and her lovely partner for lending me their voices and likeness for this project; I couldn’t have built the story without their lovely acting!
